Let me ask you a question – if you look at the past week and audit your time, where did you allocate your time? How much of your time did you invest in meaningful activities versus distractions? And how many hours did you spend on moving your goals forward versus being stuck in procrastination or indecision?
Every day, each one of us is allocated the same 24 hours. And over time, some people build businesses, create causes to champion, or make a difference that leaves a legacy while other fritter life away. The difference is in how they invest their time.
Yes, time is an investment.
How you spend your time today impacts what you experience tomorrow. In other words, your tomorrow is being built by what you are doing with your time today.
When you spend hours on activities that don’t get you closer to your goal, you’re trading your future for the comfort of avoidance.
If you spend 30 minutes mindlessly scrolling daily, this compounds to 182 hours lost annually. Imagine what you could have done with that time – learnt a new skill, written a book, created a product or stated a business.
And time is finite.
Each hour you have is gone forever, it is spent. You’re always spending time, but the key question is how you’re spending that time – are you investing your time in areas that matter or investing it in activities that feel safe but give you low returns and lead nowhere.
15 minutes of reading each day becomes 91 hours of mind expansion per year. 30 minutes of micro-learning a skill daily will result in skill mastery within months. 1 hour of relationship building a week will create a powerful network that can expose you to opportunities for decades to come.
The time you invest today is what will transform your tomorrow. What you’ll be in five years is being shaped by how you spend and invest your time today. So, ask yourself, will my future self be thankful or regretful based on how I’m choosing to invest my time today. Remember, your life changes because of how you invest your time today.
